Abingdon and Hurricane Helene
Abingdon is Open for Business!
We are happy to report that despite Hurricane Helene’s passage, Abingdon sustained minimal damage and is fully open for visitors. Our charming town is ready to welcome you back for outdoor adventures, cultural experiences, and local dining. But we’re also coming together to support our neighbors, and you can help!
Help Our Neighbors in Damascus and Southwest Virginia
While Abingdon was fortunate, nearby communities like Damascus have faced greater challenges. If you’re planning a visit, we encourage you to support recovery efforts in Damascus, as well as contribute to The United Way of Southwest Virginia. These organizations are leading local recovery efforts, ensuring that those affected by the hurricane receive the help they need.
- Donate to the United Way of Southwest Virginia: Your donations will go toward disaster relief, helping families and businesses in need. Visit their website or donate in person during your visit to make a meaningful impact.
- Enhance Abingdon Foundation: Enhance Abingdon Foundation is a public non-profit corporation organized under Virginia’s non-profit corporation statute for the express purpose of raising funds to enhance the health, education, and quality of life for Abingdon residents and visitors by supporting the Town’s parks, trails, historical properties, and recreational activities. To donate to this cause, scan the QR Code below.
