Abingdon's Small Business Saturday
Skip the Black Friday madness, and head to downtown Abingdon for Small Business Saturday. This national campaign was originally created by American Express to encourage shoppers to support small businesses.
Abingdon will celebrate Small Business Saturday with free family activities, extended merchant hours, and freshly roasted chestnuts for sale on Main Street. Stroll along the adorable brick sidewalks and enjoy the window displays: this year Abingdon’s merchants will compete for the most over-the-top window display, inspired by Barter Theatre’s “White Christmas.”
Merchants will open their doors for extended hours, 11am to 7pm, to make holiday shopping easier. From antiques to specialty sweets, ladies apparel, jewelry, art galleries, home décor. Christmas ornaments, toys and much more, Abingdon’s independent retailers have gifts at any price point.
Roasted chestnuts will be on sale at Main Street Town Park (between Wall St. and Russell Road) starting at 11am until supplies run out. All proceeds benefit the American Chestnut Foundation.
The cast of Barter Theatre’s “Rudolph” will be caroling 11am to 1pm on West Main Street. block between Cummings and Russell Road.
