    Join the William King Museum of Art in celebrating regional sculpture with Out in the Open: Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition. After an open call for submissions from sculptors throughout the Appalachian region, the selected works will be unveiled in WKMA's sculpture garden as part of Abingdon's monthly First Thursday event on August 4, 2016. The final pieces were chosen by guest juror Lauren Ross, Curator of the Institute of Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and will be on view in WKMA's sculpture garden through 2018.

    The Gallery @ Barr Photographics announces the holiday installment of the Corner Gallery’s 2017 exhibition series, with an exhibit of oil and mixed media paintings entitled “Peaceful Pathways” by award winning, Bluff City TN, artist, Renee Pitts.                        “Peaceful Pathways” will be celebrated with a gala reception and demonstration of technique by Ms Pitts, to which the public is cordially, invited, on Friday, 08 December from 7 - 9:00 PM in The Gallery @ Barr Photographics, 152 E.     Join us for a fun time and affordable artwork on "First Thursday" February 1 when regional artists have donated over 100 pieces of 6X6 artwork all to be sold for $36.00.  Doors open for the reception at 5pm but at precisely 6:36 pm SHARP! the fundraising exhibit will be unveiled and each piece is sold on a first come first serve basis.  Live music by Abingdon Thumb Strummers and refreshments to be served.
